Terms of Service
Last updated 27 July 2026
The short version. Use Cultivate to run your family's chores. Don't abuse it. A parent is responsible for their family's account and for any children using it. We're a small app and we can't promise perfection, but we'll be straight with you.
These terms are an agreement between you and Cultivate. By creating a family or joining one, you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Who can use Cultivate
You must be at least 18 to create a family account. By creating one, you confirm you're the parent or legal guardian of any children you add, and that you consent to their use of the app on your family's account.
Children use Cultivate through profiles created by a parent. They don't have their own accounts and can't sign up independently.
Your family's account
Cultivate is a single shared account. Everyone who has your join code can join your family and see the family's content, subject to the visibility settings a parent chooses. Treat your join code like a house key — share it only with people you want in your family.
The founding parent's email address is the anchor for the account. Profile PINs are a convenience lock between family members, not a security boundary against outsiders.
Your content
The tasks, rewards, values and names you enter are yours. You keep ownership of them. You give us permission to store and display that content solely in order to operate the app for you.
You're responsible for what you put in. Don't enter anything unlawful, abusive, or that infringes someone else's rights. We'd also gently suggest not entering sensitive personal information — the app is designed for chore names, not medical or financial records.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Try to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service.
- Access another family's data, or attempt to.
- Reverse engineer the app except where the law explicitly allows it.
- Use Cultivate to harass, bully, or punish someone in a harmful way.
- Resell or redistribute the app or its content.
Cultivate includes a "course corrections" feature that deducts stars. It's meant as a light, transparent nudge agreed within a family — not as a tool for punishment. How you use it within your family is up to you, but we may terminate accounts used to cause genuine harm.
Cultivate Plus
Cultivate has a free tier with certain limits, and a paid tier called Cultivate Plus. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Subscriptions bought through Apple or Google are billed by them and follow their refund policies. Manage or cancel through your App Store or Play Store account settings.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Plus applies to the whole family account — once anyone upgrades, everyone in that family gets it.
- If a subscription lapses, the account returns to the free tier. Your data isn't deleted, but features beyond the free limits become read-only or unavailable.
We may change prices or what's included in each tier. If we do, we'll give reasonable notice, and changes won't affect a period you've already paid for.
Availability
We work to keep Cultivate running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. If we ever shut the service down, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data.
Ending your use
You can stop using Cultivate and delete your family account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where required by law.
Disclaimers and liability
Cultivate is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data beyond what we could reasonably have prevented.
Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Where our liability can be limited, it's capped at the greater of the amount you paid us in the previous twelve months, or USD 50.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. You may also have consumer rights that these terms cannot override.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Trinidad and Tobago. If you're a consumer elsewhere, you keep the protections of your local law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll notify you in the app. Continuing to use Cultivate after a change means you accept the updated terms.
